in a place of fire,
standing with two feet
a sheep abandoned,
scorned by a shepherd
left to her own devices
he that promised is faithful
and yet,
he will know them by their works.
will the mire give answer to the one caught,
or the hunting wolf give answer to the
vulnerable one?
under the light,
under the moon,
there is nothing new
and yet
under his watch,
by his loving-kindness,
not a one will be lost
no struggling flame quenched
no sorrow scoffed
the scars of the fall
on body and soul
will be washed away
so the lamb who was slain
stands, beckoning
the sufferer who heals
kneels with invitation
come, and find perfect love
come, for his burden is light
come, for the one who was abandoned
will never abandon you.
